I forgot!

I had an appointment last week and forgot to post an update here...

X-rays are clean, blood work looks good. Next appointment is in four months.

In the mean time, I will cross over the three-year mark (November). Doc said that after my next appointment, I'll graduate to every six months. Hooray!

He also asked if he could refer patients to my training business (YES!). He said he knows me, he knows I've been through it and would be great for people who are looking. I hope he sends some folks over...

So not much to say except that I'm still clean and healthy :-)

I'm very pleased for you. I had a rare and very aggressive form of non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma - and am coming up to 2 years in remission (2 yrs from the end of my radiotherapy). I had in-patient chemo through a line in my chest, a bone marrow transplant and radiotherapy. I was 38 when I wa diagnosed - 30 weeks pregnant with my 3rd baby. I'm interested to read of some of your thoughts regarding the long-term effects of chemo etc. I'm doing well - but still think I have complications which aren't really acknowledged or treated with interest by my docs. Anyhow - keep going girl, you're obviously doing great! It's all so scary isn't it?

Congrats on nearing two years!

I wonder when the scary wears off ... or if it ever does...

My side effects:

sun sensitivity: which seems to be finally getting close to back to normal. It was really bad for a long time.

hormonal wackiness: I still get chemo boobs (they rise and fall cyclically), and I'm sure that there are other hormonal implications. I had bloodwork ordered by my ob-gyn, but all they told me was that I'm not menopausal...

chemo brain: still here. Not as bad, but my memory is nowhere close to as sharp as it used to be. And many details are just gone, from people's names to events/conversations/people from the past.

strength and endurance: It's taking for-freaking-ever to get my muscles back, and even longer it seems to get my endurance. My best 5K pre-chemo was 29:58. Earlier this week I ran a timed mile in 11:57, and my heart rate was close to 200 the entire mile. It's ridiculous.

Those are the ones I can think of, or those are the ones that bother me on a regular basis....
